COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — When the U.S. Olympic basketball team faces off against the U.S. Select team in a women’s basketball exhibition in Los Angeles on July 25, more than half the players on the court at a given time could be former UConn stars.
The select team, which will be coached by members of Geno Auriemma’s U.S. Olympic staff, was named on Monday and includes former Huskies Stefanie Dolson and Kiah Stokes. They will be joined by Kelsey Bone, Kahleah Copper, Natasha Howard, Jewell Loyd, Tiffany Mitchell, Aerial Powers, Sugar Rodgers, Odyssey Sims and Elizabeth Williams.
Former UConn stars on the Olympic team include Sue Bird, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles and Breanna Stewart.
Following the exhibition, the Olympians begin a three-city tournament against France, Canada and Australia, including a stop in Bridgeport, Conn., for a game against Canada on July 29.
